How To Remove Tartar For That Social Media Ready Smile

Ever wonder how "they" get those sparkling white teeth?  Want to know how you can do the same thing at home?  Well look no further, we are going to give you a few great home remedies that will allow you to get that "Hollywood Smile" in no time.

First, we all know that a great smile builds confidence right?  And is more likely to make you more attractive to people you work with and those that you are looking to have personal relationships.  With those things in mind, it's always a great idea to take care of your teeth, which in turn will also promote healthy gums, fresh breath, and a healthy mouth in general.

Now no matter what you do, your mouth and teeth, in general, will attract bacteria which invariable can contribute to plaque and tartar build-up on your teeth, and if not properly taken care of and addressed can affect the shine, health, and whiteness your teeth.  And one thing we all know to be true is that dreaded tarter building up is nearly impossible to remove without professional dental care.  However, we have come across a few DIY home remedies with tout "natural abilities" to help you break down tartar buildup and plaque on your teeth.

Keep in mind that we are dispensing any medical or clinical advice, we are simply passing along some of Grandma's good ole' home remedies which may help alleviate your problem with tartar and plaque buildup.

Below is our list of the more effective natural home remedies to help remove plaque!  Our list contains all-natural products and should be used in moderation and never in excess.

#1 Break Out The Baking Soda Baby!

Long a staple of baking fine foods and some of your Grandma's other favorite recipes, baking soda is one of the most effective DIY plaque and tarter killers you can find anywhere on the planet.  Mix even parts of the potent tartar killer with some good ole's salt and blow your plaque build-up problems into particles of nothingness.

#2 A Little Aloe Vera Goes A Long Way!

So not only is Aloe Vera great for sunburns!  It's also great at attacking and destroying plaque, whoever thought this gentle little plant could harness the power of tarter killer when applied to your teeth.  Well, we're not exactly sure who figured this out, but we greatly appreciate the home remedy information.  We have heard that (1) teaspoon of this wonder plant, brushed directly on the teeth can do the trick.  Remember not to ingest too much of the residual, and try to limit the brushing to less than (5) minutes.

#3 Coconut Oil Just Might Do The Trick!

To "coconut or not to coconut" is the question right?  No wrong!  Using coconut oil as a plaque pulling agent is a tried, true and tested method of keeping your whites pearly and shining bright.  From most recommendations we have reviewed, it's best to swish around (1) teaspoon of the sweet stuff for roughly 5-10 minutes, twice a day.  You should see and feel the results in a matter of a week or two if you stay on this regime.  With coconut oil always remember to rinse your mouth very well of any excess residual.

#4 Cloves, Cloves, and more Cloves!

Yes, cloves!  Now we know this may sound completely unconventional, however, when conducting our poll, we found that roughly 57% of our nearly 2,500 respondents stated that they had used cloves as an effective means of reducing or eliminating tartar, plaque, and bad breath within their mouths.  When asked for the most popular way to apply the clove method, our respondents stated that mixing (1) teaspoon of clove powder with (1) teaspoon of olive oil should do the trick.  Then apply this mixture directly to the teeth and leave it on no more than 1-3 minutes depending on your tolerance level, then once completed simply rinse with lots of warm water.

And last but not least...

#5 Your Momma's Hydrogen Peroxide, Yes That Hydrogen Peroxide!

Ok, we have all seen the little odd shape brown bottle of hydrogen peroxide tucked away in your mom's medicine cabinet, or maybe now tucked in your own medicine cabinet that you never really use for anything right?  Most days your not even sure why you purchased the bottle, except you instinctively knew it would serve some purpose, someday, but what purpose? And when?

Well, now you know the purpose...

Break out that odd brown bottle of plaque decimating goodness and let's get to work on your cleaning up that bad breath of yours, healing your mouth along with making those pearly whites gleam again.

Here is a bit of CAUTION you should take note of before using this great DIY tartar buster, remember that hydrogen peroxide when used in excess, or ingested in even moderate amounts can make you sick or worse, so if you decide to use this method, please use it sparingly and remember to always rinse your mouth thoroughly after each use of the product.  Again, you should be very mindful of how much peroxide you use and for how long you use it.

Now, it's best to mix a 1/2 a cup of 2% hydrogen peroxide with a 1/2 a cup of warm water, then simply gargle swish, and gargle as if you are using mouthwash. Try to limit this method to no more than 15-20 seconds at best.  Remember to rinse your mouth extremely well and by all means, AVOID swallowing the contents of this mix.

Now that you are armed with some of the best DIY home remedies for killing, destroying, and decimating mouth bacteria, go out and decimate the tarter and plaque build-up in your mouth!

As with any home remedy, they should not be a substitute for professional dental services if you have a severe or prolonged condition that only a professional dentist can assist you with.  If you have a persistent dental condition that is working overtime please seek help from your local family dentist, as they are highly skilled in all forms of dental problem prevention and correction.
